If the reflection in the mirror is showing more wrinkles than you think you should have, you may want to consider laser skin resurfacing to give back that youthful glow to your face. What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser Skin Resurfacing in Northern Alabama and the Huntsville AreaLaser skin resurfacing uses pulsating beams of concentrated laser light to efficiently remove individual layers of skin. The end result of the resurfacing effort is the reduction or removal of lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne scars or other skin blemishes or irregularities.

At Nease Cosmetic Surgery, we use fractional C02 laser resurfacing. CO2 lasers are ablative lasers, generally used to remove or correct warts, scars, deep wrinkles or other deep skin flaws. Fractional lasers are typically used to treat a wide variety of age-related skin blemishes.

The fractional part of this type of laser just means the laser energy is broken up into many thousands of tiny laser beams, used to treat only a small fraction of skin in a given area. This reduces overall downtime after the procedure.

How Much Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost in North Alabama and Huntsville area?

Currently, the cost for fractional CO2 laser resurfacing performed at Nease Cosmetic Surgery is between $500 and $3,500. The cost of laser skin resurfacing will vary from one patient to another, depending on the extent and complexity of the treatment needed to achieve the desired outcome, as well as other contributing factors that may affect the total cost. What Are the Benefits of Laser Skin Resurfacing?

There are numerous benefits associated with fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing and most patients are incredibly pleased with the results. Some common benefits include:

  • Quicker recovery time than older laser treatments
  • Stimulates the production of natural collagen
  • Dramatically improved skin texture and tone
  • Diminishes signs of acne scars, fine lines and sun damage
  • Can be used in combination with other facial surgeries

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work as an Acne Treatment?

Laser skin resurfacing is useful to remove acne scars. It removes the uppermost skin layers taking the scarred skin cells off and revealing new, more youthful skin cells. Studies have shown that acne can be reduced with laser treatments.

While it’s not likely the laser treatments alone will be able to completely clear up an acne outbreak, better results may be obtained when laser treatments are combined with topical acne medicine.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Skin Resurfacing?

If you’re a healthy adult without an active acne outbreak or excessively saggy skin, you may be a good candidate for laser skin resurfacing. Best candidates have fine lines, wrinkles, and shallow scars.

During the initial consultation, the doctor will help you make sure your expectations are in alignment with what’s possible and whether laser skin resurfacing is the best option to help you achieve your aesthetic goals. If not, he can help you explore other possibilities that may serve you better.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing Recovery Like?

Healing after laser skin resurfacing can take from three to ten days, depending on the size of the area treated and the depth of the laser. Ablative laser resurfacing can require a recovery time of up to about three weeks.

Your skin will likely be very red and will eventually scab over and begin to peel. Your skin will be quite sensitive, during recovery and for quite some time following the procedure and will need to be protected from germs and sun exposure.

For best recovery results, be sure to read and closely follow the post-treatment instructions you should be given following your laser skin resurfacing procedure.
