Chemical peels may sound like a scary name, but you won’t be afraid of the beautiful results they produce! Nease Cosmetic Surgery provides chemical peels for men and women living in Chattanooga, Nashville, Scottsboro and surrounding communities.
What Are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels are done to improve and rejuvenate the appearance of facial skin or skin on the neck and hands. They can also be used as a treatment for acne.
Chemical peels come in three types; light (sometimes called superficial), medium or deep. The name refers to the depth of the skin to which the peel penetrates. Light peels use milder acids to gently exfoliate, like alpha-hydroxy acid.
Medium peels use TCA (trichloracetic acid) or glycolic acid, which allows the removal of damaged cells in the outer and middle skin layers. Deep peels penetrate all the way through the middle layer, using TCA or phenol acid. At Nease Cosmetic Surgery, we offer TCA peels, glycolic peels and salicylic acid peels.
The chemical peels all work in basically the same manner. A chemical solution is applied on the area to be treated. It exfoliates the dead skin layers which eventually peel off, revealing freshly regenerated, smoother skin than before.
How Much Do Chemical Peels Cost?
The average cost of chemical peels at Nease Cosmetic Surgery is $99-$500. Costs will vary, depending on the treatment chosen and the number of areas treated. The total cost will be thoroughly discussed during your initial consultation.
Insurance companies seldom cover the cost of cosmetic treatments, but you should check with your insurance provider to be sure. At Nease Cosmetic Surgery, we want you to be able to have all the cosmetic procedures you want to meet your aesthetic goals, so we offer a complimentary consultation and a variety of payment options, including cash, credit cards and financing through CareCredit®.
What Are the Benefits of Chemical Peels?
There are many benefits to chemical peels, both physical and emotional. Most patients are very excited about their results. Frequently seen benefits include:
- Improved skin color, texture and tone
- Diminished appearance of lines and wrinkles
- Resolution of acne issues
- Increased production of collagen and new skin growth
- Increased self-confidence and improved self-image
Am I a Good Candidate for Chemical Peels?
Healthy adults who have light hair and fair skin are the best candidates for chemical peels. If your skin is darker, you may also get good results in treating certain problems. It’s best to set up a complimentary consultation to find out if chemical peels are your best option to help you achieve your desired goals.
What is Chemical Peel Recovery Like?
For a light chemical peel, very little if any downtime is needed. It can take up to three weeks to recover from medium or deep peels. After deep or medium peels, your skin will be red and swollen. Crusts will eventually form and later peel off to reveal fresh, glowing new skin.
You’ll be given post-procedure instructions specific to your treatment plan following your chemical peel. For optimal results and a speedy recovery, read and closely follow those instructions.
